In a characterful but thirsty 4.0-liter V8 in the last year's model was downsized 3.0-liter inline-six that depend on the twin turbochargers to produce 425 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque from just 1,850 rpm through to 5,500 rpm. The figures are an increase of 11 horses and, more important, 111 pounds-ft of twist compared to eight, with peak torque arriving 2,050 rpm earlier. 

Transmission options include a six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Equipment standard stick shift has downshift rev-matching function and helps the sedan to accelerate from zero-to-60 mph in a claimed 4.1 seconds, while the seven-speed dual-clutch offers launch control and a bit faster sprint time of 3.9 seconds. Also part of the septa-gear bag trick is "Clutch Stability Control" function that opens one of the clutches to quell understeer. 

Upgrade M compound brakes on all four corners and stiff, track-tuned suspension keep the M3 newfound power in check. As expected, the hydraulic-assist steering gives way to a new, more efficient power assist setup with three different modes of business. An optional Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled damping is also offering a trio mode, which allows the driver to prioritize ride comfort or handling agility. 

The cabin M3 is closely modeled after the standard 3-Series, which includes a quartet means simple, driver-friendly analog gauges and a tablet-style 6.5-inch screen mounted on the dashboard which displays the stereo and vehicle information. Out for the optional navigation system, and the screen upgrade to a larger unit 8.8 inches. 

Optionally available navigation system with Google point-of-interest search and real-time traffic information, and it also comes with a touchpad mounted on the iDrive button that allows users to write telephone numbers, contact names and navigation purposes - and also zoom in or zoom out the map - with fingers. 

Set the M3 apart from the standard 3-Series is an M-specific instrument cluster, a sporty three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, sports seats and carbon fiber trim on the dashboard and center console. Naturally, the liberal portion of M badging is also part of the package. 

Notable options will include a head-up display, front collision warning system, full LED lights, and, at the end of the performance, carbon brake light fastness and extra ceramic.
